Disclosure: This is part of a sponsored collaboration with Disney. I received an all-expense paid trip from Disney so that I could gather and share this information about Moana on Blu-ray. However, all experiences and opinions are always 100% my own as this post is written by me in its entirety.
For 15 years of my life it was all about the boys – which for my son included every sport you can name and then some. When Emily came along I was over the moon excited to finally have someone to live vicariously through. She’s a girly girl, but a competitive one. She wants to be a girl pirate, but with a dress. She wants to be a cowgirl, but with a dress. It was clear without a doubt from the first trailer that she was going to want to be Moana. Fearless, brave, smart…all while wearing a skirt! Which is why I couldn’t wait for the release of Moana on Blu-ray so we could add it to our collection.
Finding Your Own Identity
What I hadn’t been expecting was just how much she we would take away from this movie. Like Moana, her heritage, her culture, her lineage is what shapes her, what makes her the fearless, brave, smart young woman she is. Our culture is similar to hers in that we value our community, our network, our history. The story of Moana takes everything just a step further and says you must also cherish your surroundings and be one with the nature around you. Moana is on a mission to reunite the land with what was taken from it to save her people. But to do so she must seek the help of Maui the demig-d to learn the ways of a master wayfinder – and her identity.
The girls have watched Moana over and over – and I encourage you to introduce your little ones to her as well. In case you missed it in the theatres, Disney’s Moana has finally hit store shelves with the release of Moana on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD! Disney is back with another amazing animated feature which takes you on an adventure with a strong-willed girl sailing across the great oceans on a quest to save her people – and along the way finds herself.
