Who is the boss in your house? Ask parents and they will sheepishly admit it’s their children…or be in complete denial. It’s no coincidence that new babies become The Boss Baby – life begins to revolve around their feedings, diaper changes, etc. What if babies were truly the boss? Ask people to name the two cutest things in the world and most will answer babies and puppies. What if the world was run by a secret Baby Corporation – competing for most cutest and lovable against puppies??? If you want to know who wins, you’ll need to go see The Boss Baby for yourself, but in the meantime, check out The Boss Baby movie review – and the interview with Director Tom McGrath and Producer Ramsey Naito.

The Boss Baby Movie Review (Spoiler-free)

The Boss Baby and his crew are on the case. They’ve got to stop the Forever Puppy from its release and take over as the cutest thing ever! It’s babies vs puppies and the competition is fierce. When Tim, the big brother, discovers who the Boss Baby really is, he attempts to turn him in to his parents. Boss Baby needs an ally to truly become The Boss Baby – and his big brother wants him gone so he can get the love of his parents back. Can the brothers work together to each get what they want? And is that what they really want after all…

For the kids: My girls, ages 3 and 5, loved it. As I’ve mentioned in previous movie reviews my 3-year-old truly enjoys going to the movies and nothing seems to scare her. There were a few short (like nano second) moments that spooked the 5-year-old a bit. But really it was over before it even began. Both girls giggled repeatedly throughout the movie and especially laughed during a diaper scene.

For the adults: The Boss Baby is definitely for those young and old. Truly enough to sustain laughter from everyone throughout. There are a few references and jokes that will go over the heads of most children, and are for the adults. Papa wasn’t initially sure about going to see the movie with us but was happy he did. He was surprised actually by how much he liked it. For comparison he said it was on level with The Incredibles – which he’s seen a gazillion times. Would I see it again? Yes, definitely. It would even make for a cute date night movie without the kids.

Interview with Director Tom McGrath and Producer Ramsey Naito

What influenced the humor in The Boss Baby?

“Probably the cartoons you saw in the 90’s were influenced by the cartoon of the 50’s and 40’s and we went further than that.” Director Tom McGrath goes into detail on how the film goes more into the acting to where the animators have the task of bringing the characters to life with great facial expressions and not just floating heads reading lines. “The animators are also the stars.” McGrath said that you will even see them in front of a mirror making faces after faces in order to incorporate more real life emotion in the characters performance.

The Boss Baby is now playing in theatres everywhere! The Boss Baby has a PG rating – and is family friendly!

DreamWorks Animation and the director of Madagascar invite you to meet a most unusual baby. He wears a suit, speaks with the voice and wit of Alec Baldwin, and stars in the animated comedy, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby. The Boss Baby is a hilariously universal story about how a new baby’s arrival impacts a family, told from the point of view of a delightfully unreliable narrator, a wildly imaginative 7-year-old named Tim. With a sly, heart-filled message about the importance of family, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby is an authentic and broadly appealing original comedy for all ages.

Cast: Alec Baldwin (Boss Baby), Steve Buscemi (Francis E. Francis), Jimmy Kimmel (Dad), Lisa Kudrow (Mom), Miles Bakshi (Big Brother Tim)
