This week my family was invited to an advance screening of Finding Dory. I brought along Emily, Jason and his friend. We saw Finding Dory in 3D and it was magical. During the previews we were treated to a new Disney short called Piper, which was absolutely adorable, so make sure to be in your seats early for the movie. Enjoy this spoiler free Finding Dory movie review.

Finding Dory Movie Review

To give you a different perspective on the movie I asked Jason to give his thoughts on it…the following is in his own words.

“If you are looking for a magical moment to relive your childhood that will make you laugh, smile, tear up, and bring out all the same emotions that you felt going on a journey with Marlon and Dory to find our favorite fish of all time Nemo, then you need to just keep swimming until you find yourself watching Finding Dory. This movie definitely makes you feel like the child that you once were that would constantly be singing “Just keep swimming, Just keep swimming” and now we can all just keep swimming but this time on a journey through the big blue to help Dory find her long-lost family and she needs the help of some new friends and some old ones. In Finding Nemo we learned as kids that no matter how small you are or no matter what differences you have, anything is possible as long as you set your mind to it. Finding Dory follows the same ideology to teach kids no matter what, whether you have short-term memory loss or if you aren’t the brightest or have that greatest of vision, as long as you just keep swimming, you will succeed. Now take the time, grab your guppies and take the nearest current with your favorite turtles to go on the biggest adventure of the summer in the big blue with your favorite fish friends Dory, Marlon, and Nemo.” Favorite character: Becky

A few words from Mama…

Although Finding Dory takes place one year after the story line of Finding Nemo, you won’t be missing anything if you haven’t seen Finding Nemo (although it would be awesome if you did.) Finding Dory is perfect for all ages, young and old, and provides for entertainment for everyone in between. Friends come in all shapes, sizes and with their own uniqueness – it’s what makes each one special. With friends by your side to support and encourage you, you can do anything you set your mind to. You just need to believe in yourself to make it happen. Favorite character: Hank

Sometimes we find ourselves over thinking our situations…Dory makes solving problems look easy. So the next time you find yourself in a bind, Just Keep Swimming and ask yourself “What would Dory do?”

Finding Dory

Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory” welcomes back to the big screen everyone’s favorite forgetful blue tang Dory (voice of Ellen DeGeneres), who’s living happily in the reef with Marlin (voice of Albert Brooks) and Nemo (voice of Hayden Rolence). When Dory suddenly remembers that she has a family out there who may be looking for her, the trio takes off on a life-changing adventure across the ocean to California’s prestigious Marine Life Institute, a rehabilitation center and aquarium. In an effort to find her mom (voice of Diane Keaton) and dad (voice of Eugene Levy), Dory enlists the help of three of the MLI’s most intriguing residents: Hank (voice of Ed O’Neill), a cantankerous octopus who frequently gives employees the slip; Bailey (voice of Ty Burrell), a beluga whale who is convinced his biological sonar skills are on the fritz; and Destiny (voice of Kaitlin Olson), a nearsighted whale shark. Deftly navigating the complex inner workings of the MLI, Dory and her friends discover the magic within their flaws, friendships and family.
